Science Engagement Workshops

Redshift has experience in creating workshops for scientists and science communicators. There are several workshops that have already been developed, but we also specialize in creating custom workshops that are tailored to your needs.

A great example of the kinds of workshops we create is the workshop we provided for the NISEnet Annual Meeting in August 2009.

In May, 2009, Redshift worked with the Cary Conference for Ecosystem Studies weekend conference.  Like the NISEnet workshop, this workshop began with a performance. In this case, Three on a Couch actor Brad Fraizer performed an improvisational sketch about a scientific PowerPoint Presentation. After the presentation, Fraizer joined Megan Halpern and Max Evjen in facilitating a workshop on how to develop a presentation with dramatic narrative. Redshift repeated the narrative workshop for the Cornell Center for Life Sciences Enterprise Public Engagement and Science Communication Symposium in May of 2010.

In November of 2010 Redshift conducted a custom participatory workshop using performance to convey scientific ideas at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Inservice in Ithaca, New York. The workshop was developed to compliment the EcoTales project.
